  • September is National Preparedness Month Part 5 - Prepare for flu season

    September is National Preparedness Month!

As National Preparedness Month winds down, it's important to start preparing for flu season, which is right around the corner!

Some tips to stay healthy this season:

    • Wash your hands often, especially before eating and after you've been to public places
    • If you are sick, stay home from work or school. Do not send your children to school or daycare if they are sick
    • Get a seasonal flu shot
    • Cover sneezes and coughs using a tissue, your arm, or your sleeve - NOT your hands
    • Download the Office of Emergency Management (OEM)'s "Ready New York: Pandemic Flu" guide for more useful advice to fight the flu this season
    • Visit the NYCDOHMH Flu website
To find information about disaster and emergency preparedness throughout the year, visit the New York City OEM website.

    Stay safe and prepared!
