Come celebrate the festivities of Kwanzaa at the American Museum of Natural History! Experience the rich traditions at the Museum's 37th annual Kwanzaa celebration that honor the holiday's seven guiding principles and African roots.
In association with the American Museum of Natural History and Community Works, the New Heritage Theatre Group invites you to put on your dancing shoes and celebrate with Harlem's renown entertainer, Doug E. Fresh. Dubbed the "World's Greatest Entertainer" and "the human beat box" for his ability to rock a crowd, Doug E. Fresh rings in the new year on the Milstein Hall of Ocean Life Stage.
Other performances include artistic director of Yaffa Cultural Arts Linda Humes with master drummers Sanga of the Valley and LeeAnet Noble. Award-winning filmmaker MK Asante also introduces his landmark movie The Black Candle: A Kwanzaa Celebration, followed by a musical tribute to the film's narrator, Dr. Maya Angelou.
