The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recently posted its Diabetes Fast Fact for 2024. It reports a staggering 25.8 million Diabetics in the U.S which accounts for 11.3% of the population. Seven million out of the 25.8 million have not yet been diagnosed. A whopping 79 million people are thought to be pre-diabetics which accounts for 104.8 million people that may be plagued by this disease!
What can you do if you have Diabetes or want to presevent the onset of this disease???
- Consult with your health care practitioner
- Maintain a healthy weight and lifestyle
- Get regular lab tests (Glucose, HgBA1c, LDL & HDL cholesterol, Triglycerides) and know your numbers!
- Join the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and take part in their "Stop Diabetes"initiative
- Get moderate exercise. Visit the Shape Up NYC program for free walks, aerobic, dance, weight classes, etc...
