Some Quick Tips. How to Upload An Image in Your Post
Its great to see some of the posts being contributed by our users. Here are some examples, a post on the healthy diets of people in the Hunza Valley, a post on fitting fitness in your day and a post on ten tips for patients from nurses.
One of the things that can make your posts more enjoyable is pictures. In this post we provide step-by-step instruction on how to upload a picture in your post and position it to fit within the text. You will need to have a copy of the picture in your computer to upload the same on the site.
Adding a picture to your post is basically a two-part process. One is uploading the picture (or using a previously uploaded one) and the other is inserting the uploaded picture in the post itself. Both parts are explained below.
Part A. Uploading the Picture
Step 1. Click on the icon that looks like a camera in the second row of the text editor. Any picture you want to use must be saved on your computer. You cannot use images directly from the internet.
Step 2. Once you click on the camera icon, a pop up box will appear (see below). This box will show your previously uploaded pictures. To reuse one of them just click on the image thumbnail. To upload a new picture, click on the 'Upload' button.
Step 3. Enter the 'Title' for your picture (the more descriptive, the better)
Step 4. Click the 'Browse' Button to upload the image. This will cause your desktop computer file system to show up. Click on the image you want to upload the click 'Open.'
Step 5. You can provide extra information about the image in the body section.
Step 6. Click on the 'Save' Button to Complete
Part B. Inserting the picture to your post
Step 1. After you have uploaded and saved the picture, you will get the screen below
Step 2. You can chose to keep the title and description or change the name. These will show up below the picture, so it's best to keep it short.
Step 3. Choose the size and alignment of your picture. You can insert the image in its original size, a thumbnail or a different size. And you can chose to align it left, right, center or no alignment. The other options (Link and Insert Mode) can be left as is.
Step 4. The last step is when you click the 'Insert' button and the picture will show up in the text area where you are writing the post. (Note: You will not see the actual picture until you preview or save the post. Instead, you'll see a yellow box with the camera icon inside of it, showing you where the picture will be once you save the post.)
Good work - You just added a picture to your post! As they say a picture is worth a thousand words!
Before we end, some quick pointers:
1. To resize an image, just click on the image placeholder (this is the yellow box we mentioned) and it will provide you a small square on each corner of the image. Use your mouse to point to the square and click and drag that square to stretch the image to resize.
2. To change the image title or alignment, click on the image placeholder (the yellow box). The camera icon in the text editor will be highlighted. Click on the icon and it will open the image upload/insert popup.
3. To delete an image from your post, just click on the yellow box and press the delete button on your keyboard. The image will be removed from your post (it will still be available in your uploaded images to be used for other posts).
