Over the last decade, there has been lots of attention over Resveratrol, an antioxidant found in red wine and chocolate suggested to have positive health benefits. This increase in attention has come from studies performed on animals where a high dose of resveratrol was suggested to reduce inflammation, extend lifespan, and fight against cancer and heart disease.
However, a new study, along with other recent studies, has not shown these health benefiting effects in people. The study measured the amount of Resveratrol in participants and compared it to which participants had died over the course of the nine year study. They found no link between how much Resveratrol was in the person and their risk of death. Read more here about the study.
