Celebrate the life and work of well-known writer Maya Angelou who passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2024.
The New York Public Library's exhibition displays typed drafts of I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings and "On the Pulse of Morning," the poem Ms. Angelou composed and read at President Bill Clinton's inauguration in 1993. The exhibition also includes letters from Malcolm X and James Baldwin, and a portrait of Angelou in Ghana in 1963.
