Q: What is your job? Where do you work?

A: I am a Senior Project Officer for Aging Initiatives in the Hip Hop Public Health Education Center (HHPHEC).  I developed and coordinated the Walk It Out! and Shape Up NYC community fitness programs as well as assisted in developing a Healthy Lifestyle Initiative for employees at Harlem Hospital Center. I currently conduct research on Hip Hop Stroke, the flagship program of the HHPHEC, and serve as Treasurer and Outreach Coordinator for Arts & Minds, Inc.

Q: What do you do to stay healthy?

A: I enjoy working out in the gym as well as running and/or biking outdoors at least 3-4 times per week.  I also participate in Kickboxing and Zumba classes of the Shape Up NYC program.  I mostly buy and eat organic fruits and vegetables as well as fresh wild fish and free-range meat and poultry. I usually cook fish and vegetable dishes at home using olive or palm oil, and I drink very few sugar-sweetened beverages. I make sure to take time to destress both my mind and body.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do in Harlem?

A: I love running and biking in and around Harlem, as it allows me to take in the history and beauty of my neighborhood and its people.  I also enjoy going to The Studio Museum in Harlem as well as to the many wonderful restaurants in the area.

    Q: What are your hobbies?

A: I enjoy writing and performing poetry, as well as watching films. I also enjoy listening to different types of music and attending live music shows and concerts.
