High blood pressure is a problem in our community...
Project SHARE (Support for Hypertension Awareness, Reduction, and Education), is the Harlem Health Promotion Center's research program to lower high blood pressure in Harlem and Upper Manhattan.
Each Project SHARE participant is involved in this free research program for one year. Here, we share Patricia Ealey's story of the impact of Project SHARE had on her life:
Patricia, 65, has been a Harlem resident for nine years. While she has exercised regularly since her late 40s, she recently learned that her blood pressure was elevated during a Project SHARE screening event.
After only six months as a Project SHARE participant, Patricia lost 8.2 pounds and lowered her blood pressure. She is currently taking a neighborhood boot camp exercise class and loving it.
