The City of New York Parks & Recreation is offering an opportunity for people to become fitness/ aerobic instructors. Please see details below

 Fitness/Aerobic Instructor Training Program

  • A comprehensive 14 week worshop to train individuals to become aerobic instructors
  • Covers specific skills involved in designing a fun, safe and effective low impact aerobic class
  • Topics include basic anatomy, exercise physiology, injury prevention, music, cuing, and bdoy toning with light weights
  • Participants are required to commit to six months (once a week) as a volunteer instructor at a NYC Parks Department Recreation Center befor receiving a certificate of completion  (This is NOT a nationally accredited certifcation)
  • CPR Certification Training Included
  • Qualifications: Current participation in aerobic/dance classes. Good voice projection, motivational ability, basic rhythmic skills and coordination. Willingness to apply out of class time to preparation of movement and music assignments. Instructors will determine eligibility based on class exercises.
  • Attendance at first class is mandatory. Bring exercise clothes, be on time and ready to move! No more than TWO absences allow during training.

When: Tuesday evenings, February 22nd-May 24th, 2024

Time: 6:15PM-8:30PM

Program Membership Fee: $75.00 (collected at the second class)
