    In conjunction with Center for Science in the Public Interest’s National Food Day, City University of New York School of Public Health at Hunter College and the Public Health Association of New York City invite you to a community forum on food prices and health.  Community leaders and experts will discuss how to shrink the gap between prices of healthy and unhealthy food, the political and economic factors affecting food prices, the connections between food prices and health, and available strategies for making healthy food more affordable, especially for the growing numbers of poor and hungry people in New York City.  All are welcome to come and participate in this free public discussion.

    Olivier De Schutter,  United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food                                                                                                                                        

    Peggy Sheppard, Executive Director, WEACT for Environmental Justice

    Mike Hernandez, Healthy Monday Campaign, New York City Coordinator, Food Day 2024                

    Nicholas Freudenberg, Distinguished Professor of Public Health, CUNY School of Public Health at Hunter College

    and others to be announced, including a farmer, an economist and community food activists

    This is a brilliant project! What better way to help people turn to healthier food than to make it affordable. Healthy diet is so expensive!

    Healthy and organic food are indeed a lot more expensive that people often opt for the unhealthy yet affordable choice. Making them more affordable is the best way to promote healthy lifestyle.
