It is summer time and the warm weather comes with some unwanted friends!
This season ticks have been the talk around town as the appearance of these little insects around area parks have increased.

- Some simple rules you can follow to protect yourself against ticks include: Wear light-colored clothing with a tight weave to spot ticks easily, check clothes and any exposed skin frequently for ticks while outdoors.

- Additional ways to prevent tick bites is to avoid dense woods and bushy areas, avoid sitting directly on the ground or on stone walls and bathe or shower as soon as possible after going indoors (preferably within two hours) to wash off and more easily find ticks that may be on you.
- If you develop a rash or flu-like symptoms, contact your health care provider immediately or visit your nearest urgent care.
