- HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) is an autoimmune virus that causes AIDS. Many people with HIV don’t have any symptoms. The only way to know if you have HIV is to get tested.
- More than 1.2 million people in the United States are living with HIV, and 1 in 8 people don’t know they have it. The good news is you can help change this by getting tested and spreading the word about World AIDS Day.
- Getting tested is very important because it save lives. If you get a positive result you can get help referrals to experts who will help you take care of yourself and protect your loved ones and partners.

- If you are not able to visit one of the centers, you may visit your doctor. HIV testing sometimes is covered by all major insurance, if not covered by your insurance the average HIV test cost in private doctor offices can range from $50-$200.
