New York's New Slumlord Watch List
Are you somebody who lives in an apartment that is poorly maintained? Is there damage that hasn't been fixed? Are there rodents/pests that haven't been controlled? Are there cleanliness probelms? Is it because your landlord/property manager does not take care of the property?
Well good news for you all. The Public Advocate has launched a new website that allows tenants (that would be you) to file complaints about their landlords who are not providing them with safe, liveable housing conditions; and also publicly denounces landlords who get enough complaints. It's a resource for people looking to rent in NY and people who are already renting.
If you would like to file a complaint about your landlord, visit the website. The Public Advocate will work with tenants to see that their complaints are addressed.

Flag as inappropriatehah this would have been really helpful when I moved to the city. I hope that the people who make this list (the public advocate - whoever that is) also try and help the tenants get better living conditions! No one deserves to live in filth or in poor conditions - especially when they're paying rent just like the rest of us....

Flag as inappropriateYeah - It does seem like tenants are taking this seriously - but like I said, I hope this public advocate person (people) are taking it just as seriously and trying to help people get better living conditions
