Did you know... there are many different products that can help you quit smoking?
Nicotine is the main "ingredient" in cigarettes that makes people become addicted. When it comes time to quit smoking, it is the nicotine that our bodies crave the most, and the lack of nicotine that makes our bodies feel badly. By using Nicotine Replacement Therapies (NRTs) we little by little decrease the amount of nicotine being put into our bodies, so that we have fewer withdrawal symptoms and cravings to smoke. NRTs have been found to double people's success at quitting!
There are many types of medications and NRTs available these days, and some of them you can even get for free! Some are over-the-counter (you don't need a doctor's prescription to buy them) and others you need a prescription for.
Remember, always read the directions, and talk to your doctor if you have any health problems or are currently taking any other medications! You don't want to give your body too much nicotine or cause any drug reactions with other medications.
