Mammograms do not PREVENT cancer, they DETECT it. The rest of what you said it true. Early detection can mean more options for treatment. If you don't detect a lump until it hurts or it is big enough to feel during a self-exam, your options might be fewer because the cancer is farther along.

Prevention is key; especially in under served communities. Many people don't realize that early detection is vital for treatment especially with cancer. Breast Cancer specifically can be treated if found early enough. By offering women a chance for a mammogram without insurance is a great way to give back to the community.
