Who should receive the new H1N1 vaccine?

As the H1N1 vaccine becomes available, people in these groups should receive it in addition to a seasonal flu vaccination:

* Pregnant women
* All health care workers
* Anyone 6 months through 24 years of age
* Anyone 25 through 64 years of age who has an underlying health condition that increases risk of complications
* Anyone who lives with or cares for children less than 6 months old

Also note, the current H1N1 vaccine form (nasal spray) has the weakened virus. The injection, available later, as far as I know, is inactive or dead.

So...for folks with underlying health problems, especially involving the immune system (for example: if you are taking medicine that suppresses your immune system) you should get the shot that is "inactive" or "dead".

Ask your doctor if you are unsure and double check with the person giving you the vaccine before they stick you!

I'd be cautious of the drug treatments for h1n1 after seeing the video of the girl who can't walk straight after getting the vaccine.
