Shugah Baybees Child Development Center is a Harlem-based child care center that teaches kids about health from a young age. GetHealthyHarlem.org asked Janay Shabazz a few questions about how Shugah Baybees is contributing to the overall health of Harlem.
Q: What is your program's mission?
A: To provide quality child care for preschool children between the ages of 2 years old and 6 years old.
Q: What are the most important things that your program is working on that every person in Harlem should know about?
A: We provide a safe, healthy, positive environment for pre-school children to thrive in. We teach good manners and promote healthy eating habits. We have an organic garden where the children learn to grow vegetables. We also teach good dental practices. The children brush and floss their teeth after lunch.
Q: Who can use your services?
A: Parents who have children between the ages of 2 years old and 6 years old and seek child care.
Q: Where are you located?
A: On the tree-lined 122nd Street. We're located at 135 West 122nd Street in a Harlem Brownstone that has a landmark status.
Q: What are your hours?
A: We are open Monday thru Fridays from 8:00am to 6:00 pm

A: Yes.
