Another week, another run
After a wonderfully relaxing and run-free Labor Day weekend, I decided to go for another run this morning. Even though I took three days off, which would normally warrant a lot of self-criticism and disappointment, I decided to look at it in another light. I decided to focus on my achievements instead of my failures, so this morning I patted myself on the back for running so much LAST week, laced up my running sneakers and went for another run.
My thinking thus far has been to go run and then map the distance I ran afterwards, assuming I would do a pretty good job guessing how far I've run. However, without a watch it turns out I don't do nearly as good of a job estimating as I used to. I thought I definitely ran 2 miles today and when I got home I realized it was only 1.3! (I also walked about a mile to cool down). I was definitely a little disappointed because I probably could have kept running to complete the two miles - but again, I'm trying to focus on the positive - that I ran at all! I think that for tomorrow's run I will map it out BEFORE I go to ensure that I push myself further than I have been. I'm also going to focus on running the distance, regardless of the speed; and if I can, I'll sprint the last block or so to get my legs used to pushing harder.
I ordered some running shorts in the mail after my last run proved that the ones I had bought years ago were way too tight, but I think I overestimated and these ones are a bit too loose. Hopefully with some more weeks of running and some closer attention to what I'm eating, I'll be able to fit into the smaller ones again. (oh. and that PURPLE DRESS!)
Here's to hoping!
