5 Boro Bike Tour Day!
This past Sunday was the 5 Boro Bike Tour and it was FANTASTIC!
My friend Liz and I had such a great time biking continuously throughout the five boroughs of NYC. The beginning was really crowded (32,000 people participated!) but once we were in Queens, it was pretty much smooth sailing. And there were a good amount of hills so it's a good thing Liz and I practiced those in NJ that one Sunday. My favorite parts of the day were when we rode up Adam Clayton Powell Jr Blvd through Harlem (there was an awesome gospel choir singing!) and going over the Queensboro Bridge, which was really beautiful.
I have to say, I'm really glad I did it. I wouldn't have been able to bike the 42 miles without training (slowly inching up the miles each week really helped). If you put your mind to something, you can definitely accomplish it. And of course, everyone's support on GetHealthyHarlem.org was a big help!! Thank you!!!
Check out some of my pictures below:
Also, here's a video created by Bike New York. It really gives you an idea of how many people participated in the event!
