Get Healthy Harlem

I heard on the news today that President Obama is considering putting a tax on sugary drinks (soda, energy drinks, sports drinks, and many juices) as a response to the obesity issue in the United States.

Yesterday, I read an article about the benefits of eating healthy snacks in between meals. Some of the reasons to snack were:

I had an interesting conversation with someone about this the other day. They say that we can't force a company, who is trying to make money, to accept food stamps for produce.

All of the fruit and vegetable carts are out...even the Mangos on a stick!

 Do you notice that when you go into some supermarkets in the neighborhood the first product on display is junk food?  I've also noticed that a lot of items on sale are cookies, cakes, and chips.  

Is high fructose syrup bad for you? Does it lead to obesity and diabetes? There are a few videos posted here on GetHealthyHarlem.org that discuss both sides of the issue. What do you think?
